What the federal file says about cardiologists
29,847 cardiologists are enrolled in Medicare in the CMS file dated Aug 18, 2026, counted once each by NPI, across 4 CMS specialties: cardiovascular disease (cardiology), interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. The most are in California (2,663), New York (2,525) and Florida (2,251). 17% are women, and the median year of medical school graduation is 2000. 31% report telehealth services.
The AAMC count is higher, partly because it counts active physicians whether or not they bill Medicare. DataCaptive, MedStream Data, InfoGlobalData and LakeB2B print US counts above both. Ask each seller what one row is before you pay: a physician, a contact at a practice, or an address.
Email coverage is the part to check hardest, ours included. In our first test run, on Sep 10, 2026, 55 of 400 cardiologists got a verified email (37 of 200 at the largest group practices and 18 of 200 at mid-size and small practices). Of the rest, 112 had no practice website we could find, 126 used an address pattern we couldn't confirm, 88 sat on mail servers that accept every address (we leave those out) and 19 failed the mailbox check.

Renting the specialty society's list
The American College of Cardiology rents its mailing list through Infocus Marketing: 69,865 records of members, attendees and buyers (31,540 of them physician members) at $250 per thousand, with a 3,000-name minimum. It's a postal list; we found no email rental. ACC approves each mail piece and allows cardiovascular products, programs and job openings. Decide between a full roster and emails today.
